Act V scenes i, ii and iii
We will again compile all the scenes from this Act into one day, because of its length.
Scene i
- How does the scene have an ironic beginning?
- There is also a bit of foreshadowing in the opening dialogue, can you locate it?
- Who does Romeo blame yet again for tragedies of his life?
- How does Romeo convince the apothecary to sell him the poison?
Scene ii
- Why did Romeo never receieve the letter from Friar Lawrence?
- This scene has a "near-miss" moment -> Friar John could not deliver the message for a specific reason
- Are there any other scenes or instances in this play that have a near-miss moment? Keep your eye out, because there is one (at least in the movie) in Act V scene iii
Scene iii
- Look for elements of dramatic irony
- Look for areas where foreshadowing is "closed off" (it was foreshadowed previously in the play that something would happen, and it finally does)
- Unnecessary deaths in the play?
